Welcome to
EdNewsColorado.org, the only news service devoted to continuing, in-depth coverage of education policymaking in the legislature and state government and to serious analysis of such issues as school choice, accountability and education reform.
Our goal is to provide the kind of detailed, balanced news and analysis that readers don't get from interest groups and professional associations or from the commercial media.
- We offer breaking news briefs and detailed stories, as well as reporting on education lobbying and analysis of the latest education studies by Colorado research and advocacy organizations.
- There's a chart tracking education bills in the 2008 session.
- Type your e-mail address in the box at the top of this page to subcribe to our daily news summaries and the week-ahead report that's delivered every Monday morning.
- For lively commentary, there's the Schools for Tomorrow blog.
EdNewsColorado.org is designed to allow its readers to follow education policy as it's being made, not just read about it after the fact.
This site, produced by the Public Education and Business Coalition, is sponsored by The Daniels Fund, The Piton Foundation, the Donnell-Kay Foundation, the Colorado Children's Campaign and the Colorado League of Charter Schools. The former HeadFirst Colorado website, as well as the Schools for Tomorrow blog, have been full incorporated into the EdNewsColorado web site.
Kid's Flash
One of the most important ways the Children's Campaign serves as a voice for kids is by advocating on their behalf at the state capitol. Every legislative session, the Children's Campaign plays an active role in ensuring that children are a priority in policy decisions that will impact their lives by providing information to policymakers and state leaders, organizing grassroots advocacy efforts across the state, and working closely with other organizations who are representing children at the capitol.
This sub-committee focuses on the earliest years of the education continuum, beginning with the years before children enter school (Pre-school) and extending through 3rd grade, transcending the traditional boundaries of early care and education (ECE) and elementary school. P-3 also includes the important K-3 primary school years.
