Akron Head Start

Akron Head Start is located in Washington County Colorado on the northeastern plains of the State of Colorado 120 miles from the Capitol city of Denver.  Our Program has two classrooms serving 37 children with Head Start Funds; Two Teachers and Two Teachers Assistants provide early childhood (preschool) services to children ages 3, 4, and 5.    Our program is blessed to have a supportive staff that encourages parents to become a part of their children’s education by involving them in every area and event that is planned.  We guide parents in establishing a medical home, the importance of advocating for their child in education, and in the general community, and in educating themselves to strengthen their family units and provide a stable family home.  Our program is truly a “community” in every sense of the word-we LOVE our families and our families LOVE us!!! The Akron United Methodist Church administrative board is our Grantee and has been instrumental in developing quality early childhood programs here in Northeast Colorado.  Akron Head Start is licensed to serve 37 children through the State of Colorado, holds a current Qualistar rating of 3 and participates in the Early Childhood Professional Credentialing program to increase staff knowledge of Early Childhood Education.
