The City and County of Denver offers Head Start Services through partnerships with delegate agencies, known collectively as Denver's Great Kids Head Start.  This collaborative model with five delegates leverages resources in order to best provide services for the children in Head Start

The following community-based agencies are contracted by DGKHS to provide comprehensive Head Start services to eligible children ages 3 to 5 years old:  Volunteers of America, Catholic Charities, Clayton Early Learning, Denver Public Schools Early Education and Mile High Montessori Early Learning Centers.

Denver's Great Kids Head Start complies with all federal and City and County of Denver regulations and has a Governing Board comprised of the Mayor, City Council, Auditor, Career Services Authority and Manager of Finance.

Denver's Great Kids Head Start offers the following programs and services: Early Childhood Care and Education, Medical Services, Dental Health, Disabilities and Mental Health, Nutrition and Parental Involvement.

 The vision of Denver's Great Kids Head Start is to prepare enrolled 3 to 5 year olds to enter kindergarten confidently with the social, physical, emotional and cognitive skills and competencies necessary for continuing school success.

The goals for Denver's Great Kids Head start are: Family Centered Services, Community Health and Treatment, Prepared Children, Effective Workforce and Fiscal Integration.

Requirements: The Head Start program is for children ages 3 to 5 years old;  Children must turn 3 years of age by October 15 of the current calendar year; Families must meet the income eligibility requirements and must reside in the City and County of Denver and Denver's Great Kids Head Start service area. 

Steps to enroll: Call the Head Start ofrfice for a referral to the Head Start program (delegate agency) closest to where you live; Contact the delegate agency to start the enrollment process; The delegate agency will assist you with paperwork and completing the income eligibility form.   For more information, please visit our website at www.Denvergov.org/Educationandchildren.
