Fremont County Head Start began in 1967.
We service 170 Head Start children and 16 Colorado Preschool children.
The program operates Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. -- 5:30 p.m. with children attending for 5 hours each day.
Our program is NAEYC Accreditated and has a Three Star Qualistar rating and we are licensed by the Colorado Dept. of Human Services, Child Care Division.
A variety of services are offered, including door to door transportation.
Fremont County Head Start offers GED Preparation classes for Head Start parents, as well as, the community.
We are the GED Testing site for Fremont County.
In April, we hold "Safety Town" a safety fair open to the public, with community participation from local law enforcement, firemen and other agencies concerned with early childhood safety education.Â
We have a very active Fatherhood Initiative group that meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. The Fatherhood meeting is open to any "Dads" in the community. Â
