The Teacher's Assistant candidates must have knowledge and understanding of the theories and principles of child growth and development, early childhood education, and family support. Federal regulations for Teacher's Assistants require a minimum of CDA credential and willingness to obtain an associates degree in Early Childhood Education. Successful candidates must be willing to attend ongoing classes for professional development. Â
Successful candidates for the Bus Monitor's position must be interested in Early Childhood Education, willing to attend training and willing to provide classroom services on the Head Start Bus.
The Teaching Assistant and the Bus Monitor shall support and assist the teacher in providing comprehensive educational services to Head Start children and will maintain a cooperative relationship with other center personnel, maintain positive relationships with families to enable open communication, encourage parent involvement and to be aware of family needs, know and follow personnel policies, employee handbook, administrative directivess and other guidance as provided.
